title deeds Documents that prove a person's ownership of land and the terms on which he owns it. In the case of unregistered land they consist of all conveyances, mortgages, and other documents tracing ownership of the land back to a good root of title at least 15 years old. Title deeds to registered land are the land certificate or charge certificate (see land registration).
